Fire at the Heide refinery site
A fire has broken out on the site of the Heide refinery in Hemmingstedt (Dithmarschen district). According to the police, the fire was reported at around 4.30 p.m. on Saturday. Half an hour later, it was reported that the fire was under control and extinguishing work was continuing. In the meantime, a warning was issued for the main road there due to smoke development. According to information from the rescue control center, a warehouse was affected. The plant fire department had not requested any further assistance apart from an additional turntable ladder. The plant fire department could not be contacted at first.
The fire at the Heide refinery caused significant smoke development, leading to a road warning. Despite the initial report of the fire being under control, extinguishing work continued.
