- Fire at luxury yacht yard, probably a technical defect.
A month after the major fire at the Lürssen-Kröger shipyard in Schacht-Audorf, police investigations continue. Currently, it is believed that a technical malfunction caused the fire, a police spokesperson said. There are no indications of arson at this time, although not all witnesses have been questioned yet.
In early July, the fire caused significant damage in a ship hall at the yard. The extent of the damage is still unknown. The police are investigating the fire that occurred on July 2nd. According to dpa information, a 75-meter-long yacht under construction was in the hall. Its value is estimated to be at least 100 million euros. The build (project name "Honolulu") was already well underway. The yard specializes in the construction of luxury yachts.
The police are still gathering testimony from all witnesses to rule out any potential involvement in arson. Despite the ongoing investigation, the police spokesperson maintains that there is currently no evidence to suggest anything other than a technical malfunction as the cause of the fire.
