On an area of approximately one hectare, a fire has broken out in Ilsenburg in the Harz region. The fire has been contained, but firefighting operations are still ongoing, a spokesperson for the fire department said. A water-bombing aircraft is also being deployed. According to reports, an area with shrubs and newly planted trees caught fire.

Around 50 firefighters initially fought the flames. They managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby forest. An additional 50 firefighters were reportedly called in. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and no injuries have been reported. A plume of smoke was clearly visible from the Brocken.

Firefighters continue their efforts in firefighting operations, aiming to completely extinguish the blaze. The presence of firefighters and the deployment of a water-bombing aircraft are crucial in containing the firefighting situation.
