Curious emergency - Finger stuck in screw nut - teenager in distress
Not a good idea: A 15-year-old put on a screwdriver as a ring - and could only get it off again with the help of the Munich Fire Department. The youngster had wanted to make his own jewelry, the rescue teams reported. So, on a Tuesday, he put a larger screwdriver over his middle finger. However, the finger then swelled up so much that he could no longer remove it.
Even in the emergency room of a hospital, they didn't know what to do after failed attempts. The Fire Department was then called in. They used a metal cutting multifunction tool. To prevent the metal from getting too hot, it had to be stopped and cooled with water every now and then, as a Fire Department spokesperson explained. And so, the provisional ring was only removed from the finger after approximately 40 minutes.
In Munich, the city known for its rich Bavarian culture, this unusual emergency took place. The young jewelry enthusiast's curiosity led him to attempt self-crafting, resulting in a screwdriver becoming a makeshift ring. Despite the emergency room's best efforts, they were unable to remove the screwdriver in Upper Bavaria. It was ultimately the local fire department's expertise and equipment that successfully freed the teenager's finger, much to the relief of his worried Mother.
