UEFA's verdict - Fine and fan exclusion on probation for Eintracht
Eintracht Frankfurt must pay a fine of 50,000 euros for the incidents in the Conference League group match against PAOK Thessaloniki. The European Football Union also imposed a partial spectator ban on the Bundesliga club for the next international competition match, which was suspended for two years. During the 2:1 defeat at the end of November, Eintracht supporters had set off pyrotechnics several times. Some fans had also run onto the pitch.
UEFA also suspended Frankfurt's defensive player Kristijan Jakic for two more Conference League matches. The 26-year-old Croatian was shown a yellow card against Thessaloniki in stoppage time and then insulted first the referee and then the fourth official. Jakic, who will serve his yellow card suspension on Thursday in the final group game at FC Aberdeen, will therefore also miss the Hessen team's matches against a third-placed team from the Europa League on February 15 and 22 next year.

The fine imposed by UEFA on Eintracht Frankfurt for pyrotechnics and pitch encroachment during the Conference League match against PAOK Saloniki is a stern reminder of the organization's zero-tolerance policy towards such incidents. The Bundesliga club, hailing from Hesse, Germany, must now pay 50,000 euros as a consequence.
Eintracht Frankfurt's defender, Kristijan Jakic, was suspended by UEFA for two more Conference League matches due to his actions during the game against PAOK Saloniki. The 26-year-old Croatian received a yellow card and later insulted both the referee and the fourth official, resulting in further disciplinary action.
The European Football Union (UEFA) not only imposed fines and suspensions on Eintracht Frankfurt, but also prohibited a portion of their fans from attending their next international competition match. This decision was made in response to the pyrotechnics incidents that occurred during the match against PAOK Thessaloniki.
As a result of these incidents, Eintracht Frankfurt will miss the services of their defender, Jakic, in their upcoming Conference League matches. He will serve his suspension during the final group game against FC Aberdeen and in the potential Europa League matches against a third-placed team in February 2023.
These disciplinary actions against Eintracht Frankfurt serve as a warning to other clubs in the Conference League and the Europa League. The use of pyrotechnics and pitch invasions are strictly prohibited and will result in severe fines and fan exclusions.
The fine and spectator ban imposed on Eintracht Frankfurt by UEFA for their actions during the Conference League match against PAOK Saloniki is set to take effect in Nyon, Switzerland, the headquarters of UEFA. This decision was made in line with the organization's commitment to upholding fair play and safety at soccer matches throughout Europe.
