Bavaria's Finance Minister Albert Füracker (CSU) does not give presents at Christmas. "I am someone who doesn't expect presents. In this respect, everyone who has anything to do with me has to live with the fact that I don't give presents either," he told the Munich newspaper "Abendzeitung" (Wednesday edition). "Unfortunately, I'm not such a creative person here either."

He is extremely frugal. "I can claim that I haven't spent a five-figure sum on private vacations in my entire life. That's just the way it is, it's not something I suffer from," he told the newspaper. "But I don't want to lecture anyone who does things differently and takes a plane trip, for example. After all, I am Chairman of the Supervisory Board of two Bavarian airports by virtue of my office - that has to generate revenue."

When asked how he could be made happy - apart from with a balanced budget - he said: "With nice people. I also bought an e-bike once - that gives me pleasure. And eating ice cream is something I'm terribly sensitive to. That's a big weakness of mine."
