Tunes and Melodies - Final Summer Music Festival Comes to an End
It's time to bid farewell to the Melt music festival held at the former mining site Ferropolis in Saxony-Anhalt. The organizers have announced that this year will be its last installment. "With a heavy heart, we can't continue the festival," they posted on social media and their website. Unfortunately, no specific reasons were disclosed.
Melt has been bringing music to the abandoned brown coal mine in Graefenhainichen (Wittenberg district) since 1997, with its retired excavators serving as a unique background. The site has been among the audience since 1999.
The final edition of the festival will occur from July 11th to 13th at the "Baggerstadt" (excavator city). Featured performers include the British pop trio Sugababes, German electronic producer DJ Koze, Domiziana ("Without Gasoline"), and Paula Hartmann ("DLIT (the love is dead)"). In pre-pandemic times, the event drew around 25,000 attendees.
