Justice - Final sentences after prisoner escapes
The judgments concerning the escape of a prisoner from JVA Mannheim during a doctor's visit in Ludwigshafen have now become legally binding. A justice spokesperson informed the German Press Agency on Wednesday. The Amtsgericht of the Palatinate city had sentenced two helpers to two years of probation each at the end of May. The man and the woman had admitted to helping the prisoner escape on December 14, 2023.
The fugitive and his male accomplice were apprehended slightly more than two weeks later near Heidelberg. The judgment against the man was based on, among other things, an assault on enforcement officers and unlawful weapons possession. The accusations against the woman included prisoner release and aiding in the commission of a crime in office.
