Hamburg District Court - Final judgment against couple for incitement to murder
The verdict of the Hamburg Regional Court against a married couple for attempted incitement to murder is final. The Federal Supreme Court dismissed the appeals of the two defendants in a ruling on December 5, a court spokesperson in Hamburg announced on Friday. The regional court had sentenced the ex-beauty surgeon and her husband to more than five years in prison each on April 4.
The criminal court considered it proven that the 50-year-old doctor and the 52-year-old entrepreneur had attempted to hire a contract killer via the Darknet. He was to kill the woman's ex-partner, who lived in Hamburg. The accused, who most recently lived with her husband in Stuttgart, was in a custody dispute with him over their daughter.
The doctor was sentenced to five years and six months in prison. The public prosecutor's office had demanded seven years and ten months in prison. The businessman was sentenced to five years and three months. The public prosecutor's office had requested six years and eight months for him. The defense had pleaded for acquittal for both defendants.
The 50-year-old confessed to everything during the trial and explained that she was in an exceptional psychological situation. However, the court did not believe her poor condition. The 52-year-old had denied involvement in the crime. However, the court considered it proven that he procured the bitcoins to pay the alleged contract killers.
