45th Film Festival - Film about Voodoo Jürgens opens Max Ophüls Prize
The 45th Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival will open on January 22, 2024 with Adrian Goiginger's feature film "Rickerl - Musik is höchstens a hobby". The organizers announced this on Monday. The Austrian singer-songwriter Voodoo Jürgens can be seen in the leading role of the melancholic and humorous father-son story. Director Adrian Goiginger will present his film in person in Saarbrücken - together with his team and some of the actors and actresses. Rickerl - Musik is höchstens a hobby" can then be seen in German cinemas from February 1.
During the Max Ophüls Prize festival week from January 22 to 28, 131 films will be shown in 226 screenings at seven venues in Saarbrücken and the rest of Saarland. The competitions will feature 58 films in four categories: feature film, documentary, medium-length film and short film. The winners will receive 18 prizes worth a total of 118,500 euros.
The MOP is regarded as the most important festival for young German-language film and stands for the discovery of young talent from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. At the most recent edition almost a year ago, more than 38,000 visitors were counted in the cinemas and at the events.
