Europa League - Fifth win: Leverkusen in the round of 16 with Schick goal

Fifth game, fifth win: Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen are through to the last 16 of the Europa League and are the only team to have won all their games. With a 2:0 (1:0) win at Swedish cup winners BK Häcken, coach Xabi Alonso's soccer team, with eight changes to the B team, also secured group victory ahead of time. Leverkusen are therefore through to the round of 16 and avoid the detour via the play-offs against a team relegated from the Champions League. After Victor Boniface made it 1-0 (14'), the long-injured goalscorer Patrik Schick added his first goal in 284 days (74').

Bayer Leverkusen's success in the Europa League extends beyond Germany, as they became the only team to win all their group stage matches, even with eight changes to their squad. This impressive run included a 2-0 victory over Swedish cup winners BK Häcken, with Patrik Schick scoring his first goal in 284 days to secure a place in the round of 16. As Germany's highest-placed team in the Europa League, Bayer Leverkusen avoid the play-offs against a relegated Champions League team, potentially setting them up for a strong run in the competition, with Europe as their stage.
