Fifth child arrested after threats at school
Following threats at two Hamburg schools on Wednesday, the police have temporarily arrested another boy. The 13-year-old is suspected of having been involved in the incident at the district school in Hamburg-Blankenese, the police announced in Hamburg on Thursday. This suspicion became more concrete in the course of the investigation. For this reason, the apartment where the 13-year-old lives was searched in the evening. The public prosecutor's office had obtained a corresponding search warrant.
A third toy weapon was found there. As a result, five boys have now been arrested by the police and treated for identification purposes. Following the police measures, they were handed over to their legal guardians.
On Wednesday afternoon, two boys had threatened a teacher in a classroom of a district school in Hamburg-Blankenese with a type of firearm and triggered a large-scale police operation. Only after four hours were the emergency services able to give the all-clear. At almost the same time, there was another alarm at another school in the Bahrenfeld district due to a threat. Here, too, a teacher was threatened.
Shortly afterwards, the police were able to arrest four boys aged 11, 12, 12 and 14 and seize two suspected toy weapons. Initially, the police had spoken of a 13-year-old. However, it was actually an 11-year-old. A 12-year-old and the 13-year-old arrested later are suspected of being responsible for the threat in Blankenese.
In response to the emergencies at two Hamburg schools involving threats and toy weapons, the city's emergency services were heavily involved. These incidents have led to the temporary arrest of several school-aged children for questioning, with five now under police investigation for crime-related activities.
