Fewer road deaths in the first nine months
This year, 102 people have died in road accidents on Saxony-Anhalt's roads up to the end of September, 19 fewer than in the same period last year. In total, the police recorded 49,723 accidents in the first nine months of this year, the State Statistical Office announced in Halle on Thursday.
This was 0.7 percent more than from January to September 2021. While the number of accidents with at least one injured person fell by 2.3 percent, 1.1 percent more accidents resulted in property damage only.
Despite the decrease in road deaths, traffic statistics in Saxony-Anhalt still show an increase in the total number of accidents. Notably, the number of accidents resulting in property damage only saw a slight increase, contrary to the decline in accidents with injuries.
