Traffic - Fewer motorcycle accidents after daily Kesselberg closure

Following a new closure of the Kesselberg road, which is popular with motorcyclists, initial data shows that the number of accidents has fallen. In spring, an order was issued to close the Kesselberg near Kochel am See to uphill motorcyclists every day from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. between April 1 and October 31. During this period, the number of accidents fell from 21 to 12, the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district office announced on Tuesday.

This was also fewer than in 2019, when the lowest number in the past five years was reached with 15 accidents. Nevertheless, it will only become clear next year how reliable the figures are, it said.

The closure, which previously only took place at weekends, will also apply daily in the 2024 season. The trial period has been set for two years so that the impact on accidents can also be determined and analyzed year-on-year. A decision on how to proceed thereafter will be made on the basis of the knowledge gained.
