In May, the number of jobless in Thuringia dropped by 1,400, bringing the total to 67,800. This resulted in a decline in the unemployment rate from 6.3% to 6.1%. The Federal Employment Agency's office in Halle provided these figures. In the same month a year ago, Thuringia had 63,100 unemployed with a rate of 5.8%. The statistics were compiled using data available up to May 15.
