Road traffic - Few accidents in icy conditions - no impact from strike
Despite the black ice warning and the train drivers' strike, it has been relatively quiet on the roads in Hesse so far. According to the local police headquarters, there was no increase in traffic on Friday morning due to the strike. Only the weather led to a few accidents.
"There were the first accidents due to the onset of icy conditions, but only minor damage", said a spokesperson for the police in Giessen. A police spokeswoman from the West Wiesbaden police headquarters reported two accidents with minor injuries, one person had to be taken to hospital.
According to the DWD, freezing rain or sleet could make it slippery on Friday, especially in the eastern Hessian mountains. Due to the warning strike at Deutsche Bahn, long-distance, regional and suburban rail services in Hesse are expected to be severely restricted.
