Festival of Jewish Culture launched in Magdeburg
The festivities of Jewish culture surrounding the opening of the New Synagogue planned for the beginning of December began in Magdeburg on Sunday. As a supporting program for the opening of the synagogue, the city of Magdeburg announced that the festivities were particularly focused on social cohesion. A wide range of events such as concerts and theater performances invite people to engage in cultural exchange and peaceful encounters. For more than 15 years, a civil society alliance campaigned for the construction of the new synagogue. Thanks to donations and funding, the project could be realized. The opening is planned for December 10.
The celebration of Jewish culture in Magdeburg is deeply rooted in the city's history, drawing on centuries of religious and cultural diversity. This year's festival aligns with the city's cultural policy, promoting understanding and unity, as demonstrated by the wide array of events focusing on cultural exchange and peaceful encounters.
