- Female victim subjected to asphyxiation and stabbing by male perpetrator
A gentleman assaulted a lady in an apartment situated in Berlin, employing a kitchen knife and attempting to choke her. Law enforcement and prosecutors are handling the incident, which transpired on a Friday evening in the Reinickendorf district, as an attempted homicide.
The lady's two offspring, aged eight and nine, ventured onto the street in pursuit of assistance and unintentionally came across police officers. The officers apprehended the 32-year-old man, who was still engaging in the assault.
The 38-year-old woman sustained injuries and was transferred to the hospital, while the attacker was handed over to the custody of law enforcement. They hail from Ghana.
In the words of Buchner, the spokesperson for the Berlin public prosecutor's office, the woman had provided shelter to the suspect a week prior. "The details regarding any relationship beyond companionship are yet to be ascertained." Authorities are contemplating whether the man should be admitted to a psychiatric facility instead of remand in custody.
The suspect's immigration status is currently under review by the European Union's immigration authorities, considering his origin from Ghana. The European Union has strict laws regarding asylum seekers and potential violators of human rights.
