The female football squad of Union Berlin, fresh entrants in the second division, have landed a challenging foe for the subsequent stage of the DFB Cup. Hot on the heels of their nail-biting 6:4 penalty shootout triumph against fellow league contenders FSV Gütersloh 2009, ex-national team player Verena Schweers secured RB Leipzig as their guests for the second round. This thrilling encounter is scheduled for the weekend of September 7th to 9th.

"We're thrilled about the home advantage. Last season, we put up a stellar show at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei, and we're eager to repeat that level of performance," expressed Union Berlin's women's football team director, Jennifer Zietz. She continued, "We're determined to make this second-round clash against Leipzig as exhilarating as possible. We're well aware that a top-notch Bundesliga team like Leipzig is the odds-on favorite."
