Federal President in Stendal for three days

In August, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is looking to get close to the people of the Altmark. He also wants to bring plenty of time for spontaneous conversations.

Head of state meets citizens - Federal President in Stendal for three days

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier shifts his office seat for several days to come into direct contact with people - next is Stendal. From August 25 to 27, Steinmeier will conduct his official business from the city in the Altmark region, according to the Federal Presidential Office. "The region has a particularly low population density, which makes the challenges of rural areas particularly apparent here."

The Federal President plans to hold talks with local politicians and politicians, civil society actors, and business figures in Stendal. He will spend a lot of time for spontaneous encounters during walks through the city or strolling in the pedestrian zone.

The program also includes a "controversial coffee table," where Stendal citizens with differing opinions on contentious issues will be brought to a table. At the end, Steinmeier will award the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany to engaged citizens.

The "Ortszeit Deutschland" has led the Federal President to eleven stations so far, including Meiningen in Thuringia, Eckernförde in Schleswig-Holstein, Senftenberg in Brandenburg, Völklingen in Saarland, Freiberg in Saxony, Neustrelitz in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Rottweil in Baden-Württemberg, and also Quedlinburg. According to the Federal Presidential Office, Stendal will be the twelfth station.

  3. During his visit, Steinmeier intends to engage with local politicians, civil society actors, and business leaders in Stendal, promoting spontaneous interactions through walks and visits to the pedestrian zone.
  4. According to the Federal Presidential Office, Stendal will be the twelfth city on Steinmeier's national tour, following destinations like Meiningen, Eckernförde, Senftenberg, and Quedlinburg.
