Crime - Federal police satisfied after intensified search measures

During intensified searches at train stations and on trains, the federal police in Saxony-Anhalt initiated a total of 27 investigations on Friday. These included, among other things, benefit fraud, fraud offenses and violations of the residence and narcotics laws, as the federal police announced on Sunday. The operation contributed to an increased sense of security among passengers and railroad employees, it said. A total of 36 federal police officers were deployed.

Among others, the officers caught a 45-year-old man who was traveling on an S-Bahn train from Halle in the direction of Dessau. The Mühlhausen public prosecutor's office had an arrest warrant for him. According to the warrant, he was sentenced to one year and six months in prison for robbery by the Mühlhausen district court in July 2021. As the wanted man did not turn himself in for sentencing, the arrest warrant was issued on 4 December. The federal police arrested the man and handed him over to a prison.
