Rail traffic - Federal police clear train with 700 soccer fans
German police officers evacuated a train carrying approximately 700 German football fans at Karlsruhe Main Station on Friday evening. The train, which was supposed to head towards Stuttgart, was reportedly rendered non-operational due to a technical defect, according to a police spokesperson. The fans refused to leave the train on their own, resulting in the evacuation.
The operation proceeded smoothly. There were no further disruptions or other consequences for rail traffic. According to a statement, the quarterfinal match in the jurisdiction of the Federal Police went largely without incident. Germany lost 1:2 against Spain on Friday evening.
