Accidents - Federal highway closed due to burning truck

Federal highway 8 was fully closed between Esch and Glashütten on Monday due to a burning truck. According to the West Hesse police, the driver initially noticed that smoke was coming out of the hood. After he stopped his truck, the engine could no longer be started. According to the police, the man and his co-driver were able to leave the vehicle unharmed. "Shortly afterwards, the truck was already on fire," they said.

The road surface in the direction of Glashütten was also affected by the enormous heat from the burning load. The main road is currently impassable. In addition, the road had to be extensively cleaned as fuel had escaped. According to initial findings, the police assume that the fire was caused by a technical defect. The full road closure initially continued in the evening.
