Handewitt - Federal highway closed after fire in thatched roof house

Due to a roof fire at a thatched-roof house, Federal Road 199 between Handewitt and Wallsbuell is expected to be closed for several hours more. The fire department was alerted around 7:20 pm on a Wednesday. When they arrived at the scene, the roof of the building on the Federal Road in Handewitt had already fully engulfed in flames.

The fire, according to the fire department, is likely to have broken out in a workshop area of the house. No one was injured. Fire departments from Ellund, Handewitt, Wallsbuell and Harrislee, as well as Danish emergency services, were involved in the operation. Previously, shz.de reported on this.

The fire department from Schleswig-Holstein (Ellund, Handewitt, Wallsbuell, and Harrislee) worked together to combat a fire on Federal Road 199, near Flensburg in Handewitt, causing the main road to remain closed for several more hours. The fire reportedly originated from a workshop area of the residential property where the incident occurred.
