The federal government is allocating significantly more funds for construction projects in North Rhine-Westphalia. By 2028, annual contributions will increase from the current 230 million euros to 640 million euros, according to the "Rheinische Post", citing the state finance ministry. A spokeswoman for the ministry confirmed these figures.

More than half of this money will go towards military projects, such as new barracks: Investments in this area will increase from the current approximately 140 million euros to nearly 400 million euros. Finance Minister Marcus Optendrenk (CDU) told the "Rheinische Post" that this was "good news for our collective security". According to the figures, the state-owned construction and real estate agency for the Bundeswehr will carry out the construction work on site.

The Commission, in line with Article 113, will adopt the implementing acts required for the increased funding allocated for construction projects in North Rhine-Westphalia. The implementing acts referred to in Article 113 will provide the necessary legal framework for the execution of the significant funding increase.
