Federal funding for research into the unfulfilled desire to have children
Leipzig University Medicine is to receive around two million euros from the federal government for research into the unfulfilled desire to have children. The funds will be used to set up Leipzig Reproductive Health Research, as announced by Leipzig University's Faculty of Medicine on Friday. The aim of this research is to improve the treatment of infertility. According to the study, almost every tenth couple in Germany between the ages of 25 and 59 is unintentionally childless.
The funding will also potentially lead to developments that could benefit children born through assisted reproduction techniques. Furthermore, understanding infertility issues better can help provide appropriate medical care to affected children and their parents.
