Federal Council deals with supplementary budget 2023 in special session

Therefore, almost 45 billion euros of additional debt must now be written into the 2023 budget. This requires the suspension of the debt brake in the Basic Law once again this year. The supplementary budget is the only item on the agenda of the special session on Thursday. The Bundestag still has to give its final approval to the bill next week - after which it could be finally discussed in the Bundesrat on December 15.
