State election - FDP wants to make policy against people's fears of decline
Upsurge fight instead of descent anxiety: The Saxon FDP aims to inspire confidence and courage in people during the campaign. There is currently great mistrust in politics and huge fears of loss and social descent, said Spitzenkandidat Robert Malorny at the presentation of the campaign in Dresden. The Saxon government has effectively halted work and only points to Berlin. However, it has no idea how to prevent the decline and lead an upsurge fight.
Malorny (44) reminded of the 1990s, when there was a transformation of a different scale in Saxony. But the Free State managed it. At that time, there was less bureaucracy and more freedom. "There was a will to succeed, a will to perform. We need that again if we want to face the challenges of today's time." The core message therefore is: "Rise for Saxony. Others talk, we act." We will strengthen the economy by reducing bureaucracy. All regulations must be put to the test.
Currently, a coalition of CDU, Greens, and SPD governs in Saxony under the leadership of Minister President Michael Kretschmer. On September 1, a new state parliament will be elected.
Surveys show the FDP below five percent - Malorny remains optimistic
As further central themes for the campaign, Malorny named Education, Migration, and Innovation. It's about reducing the teaching shortage and relieving teachers of bureaucracy. A reform of teacher training is also necessary. In terms of migration, the FDP stands for controlled immigration. We need "more Saxony for Saxony" for the first labor market.
At the same time, it is important to address the justified fears of citizens regarding loss of control. "We must know who is coming to us. We must decide who is coming to us." Asylum procedures must be processed faster. Violent criminals have forfeited their right to stay in Germany.
Other slogans of the campaign include "Erasing education gaps from the curriculum", "Climate change for Saxony: Politics without hot air", or "Free State. Freedom comes before State". The FDP plans a campaign budget of 500,000 Euro. In August, several appearances by party leader Christian Lindner are also planned in the campaign.
Although the Saxon FDP currently achieves less than five percent in opinion polls, Malorny remains optimistic. Politics is exactly like the weather today unpredictable. Many voters have not yet decided. If in the future only the CDU, the AfD, and the BSW were represented in the state parliament, that would be a horror scenario for Saxony.
