Baltic Sea protection - FDP: Goldschmidt is riding a "dead horse" with the Baltic Sea National Park
Environment Minister Tobias Goldschmidt (Greens) is riding a "dead horse" with the idea of a Baltic Sea National Park, according to the FDP parliamentary group. The CDU had rejected the national park for good reasons, said MP Oliver Kumbartzky on Tuesday. The FDP had therefore submitted a motion to set up a commission of inquiry for the protection of the Baltic Sea, which is to be discussed on Wednesday.
The state parliament has a say in the protection of the Baltic Sea. It is not just the task of the state government, said Kumbartzky. For this reason, nine members of the state parliament are to sit on the requested special committee to develop solutions with the help of experts from science, nature conservation and associations.
According to Kumbartzky, there have not yet been any signals from other parliamentary groups to set up a commission of inquiry. However, he could imagine that at least the Greens would find the idea "great", as the Baltic Sea National Park would then not immediately "end up in the bin".
