FDP adopts program for local elections

The Rhineland-Palatinate FDP will adopt its program for the local elections on 9 June 2024 at an extraordinary party conference in Morbach on Saturday. The 200 delegates will discuss a 42-page draft program. Among other things, it states that the municipalities are facing major challenges: "We want to make them lean and strong so that they can cope with them." The party conference begins with a speech by the state chairman and Federal Minister of Transport, Volker Wissing.

The draft program also states that the more than 150 car-sharing parking spaces in Rhineland-Palatinate are ideal transfer points and should be developed into "mobility hubs". They should be equipped with lighting, charging points and secure bicycle spaces. "The train stations of the future don't need rails," it says.

When it comes to migration, many helpers in the municipalities are "at their limit": "We demand permanent limitation and control of immigration as well as reliable support from the federal and state governments for integration in the municipalities." The party conference will be preceded by a state representatives' meeting at which candidate proposals for next year's European elections will be discussed.

The Rhineland-Palatinate FDP, during their program adoption for the local elections on June 9, 2024, emphasizes the need for strengthening municipalities to handle challenges, stating, "We want to make them lean and strong so that they can cope with them." Furthermore, the FDP, as part of their draft program, proposes transforming the existing car-sharing parking spaces into "mobility hubs," backed by the FDP's Federal Minister of Transport, Volker Wissing.
