FCA coach Thorup warns against complacency: "Never lean back"
Despite the strong start with seven points from three games, new coach Jess Thorup has warned the FC Augsburg professionals. "Now we have seven points from three games, that's okay. But, to be completely honest, I'm not satisfied," said the Dane ahead of the home game against TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky). "We shouldn't sit back now and say everything is fine. That was a small step in the right direction, but there's still a lot of work to do."
After parting ways with Enrico Maaßen, the 53-year-old has stabilized the team in mid-table of the Bundesliga for the time being. But it is the goals conceded that bother the coach. "We've always conceded at least one goal. We now have to be careful and focus a little more on our defense," said Thorup. He admitted that he was satisfied with the seven points. "But we will never sit back."
In the upcoming home match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday, FC Augsburg's coach Jess Thorup emphasizes the need for continued effort, stating, "We shouldn't sit back now and think everything is fine." Despite securing seven points from their first three Bundesliga games, Thorup is not completely satisfied and highlights the importance of improving their defense, as they've conceded at least one goal in each match so far.
