Bundesliga 2 - FC St. Pauli: "Certain dissatisfaction" after the end of the first half of the season

FC St. Pauli head into the winter break with frustration after missing out on the fall championship of the 2nd Bundesliga. "On the whole, the disappointing result remains for us," said coach Fabian Hürzeler after the 1:1 (0:0) draw against Wehen Wiesbaden on Sunday. "Once again, we didn't manage to play to nil and there's a certain amount of dissatisfaction as a result."

Hürzeler wants to use this dissatisfaction during the winter break "so that we don't have this so often in the second half of the season". As a result of the draw, Hamburg are now two points behind new league leaders Holstein Kiel. St. Pauli are second in the table with 33 points after 17 matchdays.

Worse for Hürzeler than missing out on the autumn championship was probably how few chances Wiesbaden needed to score the equalizer. The extremely defensive-minded visitors only needed two great chances to score. "How does it annoy me? Extremely, of course," said Hürzeler.

St. Pauli will once again hold its winter training camp in Benidorm, Spain. The training camp will take place from January 3 to 13. There, Hürzeler will try to further stabilize his defence. "I will look at the games, the goals conceded and the goalscoring opportunities we have allowed. We will use this to determine training content for the training camp and then provide them with solution-oriented content."
