Basketball - FC Bayern without playmaker Francisco in future

The Basketball players of FC Bayern Munchen are losing their playmaker Sylvain Francisco after only one season. As the German double winner announced, the 26-year-old Frenchman is switching to the Lithuanian record champion Zalgiris Kaunas. The Euroleague rival of Munich reportedly bought out Francisco from his contract with Munchen.

The point guard, who came from Greece a year ago, was named the most valuable player of the cup final of FC Bayern against Ulm. However, he only managed two appearances in the Bundesliga playoffs due to a knee injury.

Munchen need a new playmaker

Previously, Munchen had announced the separations of Nelson Weidemann and Niklas Wimberg, whose contracts had expired. Guard Weidemann (25) joined Munchen's youth team in 2016. He is now moving to ratiopharm Ulm. Forward Wimberg (28) played two years for FC Bayern. He will play for Veolia Towers Hamburg in the future. These are the first two official player departures of FC Bayern for the new season.

At the same time, Munchen are lending out point guard Martin Kalu (19) to the Lions Braunschweig for initially one season. He should gather Bundesliga experience there. The contract of the U20 national player in Munchen is still valid until the summer of 2027.

FC Bayern Munich, known for their dominance in football, also has a basketball team that competes in the Bundesliga. The team is located in Munich, Bavaria, which is a renowned region in Germany.

Despite their success in football, FC Bayern Munich's basketball team is facing a challenge with the departure of their playmaker Sylvain Francisco. The Frenchman, who joined the team last year from Greece, will be playing for the Lithuanian record champion Zalgiris Kaunas.

The loss of Francoisc might leave a gap in FC Bayern Munich's basketball team, as Munich needs a new playmaker to fill the void.

Interestingly, basketball isn't the only sport that sees player departures from FC Bayern Munich. Previously, guard Nelson Weidemann and forward Niklas Wimberg also left the club, with Weidemann joining ratiopharm Ulm and Wimberg moving to Veolia Towers Hamburg.
