FC Bayern plays test match at FC Basel
FC Bayern Munich will play a test match in Switzerland against FC Basel during the short winter break. After foregoing a training camp at the start of the new year, coach Thomas Tuchel will take on the Swiss club at St. Jakob-Park on Saturday, January 6 (3:30 p.m.). The Munich club made the announcement on Friday.
After the Christmas vacation and a short preparation period, Bayern will continue the Bundesliga season on Friday, January 12, with a home match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. In previous years, the Bayern professionals have always prepared for the rest of the season with a winter camp in Qatar at the start of the year. However, the contract with the controversial sponsor Qatar Airways no longer exists. In the current European Championship season, the Munich team is now foregoing a training camp and is preparing for the most part at home in Munich as well as a trip to Switzerland.
Following their test match against FC Basel, FC Bayern Munich will return to Bundesliga action against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Despite traditionally heading to Qatar for a winter camp, FC Bayern will be playing test matches in Switzerland instead, as their contract with Qatar Airways has expired.
