Bundesliga - FC Bayern extends contract with Stanisic

The FC Bayern has long-term bound Defender Josip Stanisic. As the German football record champion announced on Thursday, the 24-year-old receives a contract until June 30, 2029. In the previous season, the native Munich player was on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, where he became German champion and cup winner with the Werkself. With Croatia, Stanisic failed in this week's European Championship round of 16.

"I am grateful to Leverkusen because I learned a lot there - in football as well as off the pitch," said Stanisic, who formulated his future goals in Munich as follows: "Giving everything for FC Bayern and winning as many titles as possible. It's nice to be back in my hometown."

Eberl: "Stani knows what it takes to succeed at FC Bayern"

Stanisic switched from SC Fürstenfeldbruck to Bayern's U17 juniors in January 2017. He made it through the junior teams and the FCB amateurs to the professionals, for whom he has appeared in 41 league games so far and scored one goal.

"Stani knows what it takes to succeed at FC Bayern. He has established himself at the highest level in Leverkusen and with the Croatian national team - we are looking forward to the coming years with him," commented Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic.
