German Football Association Cup - FC Bayern begins cup participation as Nuremberg faces off against Saarbrücken.
FC Bayern Munich, current champions, will start their DFB Cup journey against second division promoter SSV Ulm, drawn in the selection event at the German Football Museum in Dortmund on Saturday. Former professional player Nils Petersen will see his team Viktoria Berlin take on FC Augsburg.
- FC Nuremberg will face a familiar opponent in third division team 1. FC Saarbrücken, who progressed all the way to the semi-finals after eliminating Bayern Munich in the recently concluded DFB Cup season. Nuremberg's local nemesis SpVgg Greuther Fürth will tussle against TSV Schott Mainz.
Second division team Jahn Regensburg hosts VfL Bochum, while third division side FC Ingolstadt welcomes 1. FC Kaiserslautern, last season's Pokal finalists. The Würzburg Kickers will take on TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
The first round of the tournament is scheduled for August 16th to 19th, commencing a week before the Bundesliga kick-off. Matches involving Supercup participants Bayer 04 Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart are set for August 27th and 28th.
