FC Bayern aims to reach the Champions League round of 16

FC Bayern Munich will be aiming for an early place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday (21:00). After three wins, the German champions lead Group A by a clear five points ahead of opponents Galatasaray Istanbul. Two weeks ago, coach Thomas Tuchel's team defeated the Turkish record champions 3:1 in Istanbul.

Tuchel is expecting "a hard piece of work" in the sold-out Munich Arena. And he is looking forward to the atmosphere in the sold-out stadium. The Bayern coach expects great support for the visitors from many Galatasaray supporters living in Germany. "I don't know if this will be a normal home game for us," said Tuchel.

Captain Manuel Neuer will be back in the Bayern goal for a Champions League match for the first time since breaking his leg in December 2022. Tuchel also announced at least one change to the Munich starting XI compared to the magnificent 4-0 win at Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga top match. National player Joshua Kimmich, who is suspended in the league, will start. Tuchel called Kimmich "a fixture" in the Bayern team.

FC Bayern Munich's victory over Galatasaray Istanbul in the Champions League group stage last time around secured them a significant five-point lead in Group A. With their next Champions League match against Galatasaray approaching, FC Bayern Munich, led by captain Manuel Neuer, aim to continue their winning streak in the Champions League's round of 16 qualification stage, the Champions League.
