FC Bayern ahead of Champions League draw: "Achieve everything"

Paris Saint-Germain? SSC Napoli? FC Porto? There are only three possible rivals for FC Bayern in the last 16 of the Champions League. The Munich team's goal is Wembley.

Champions League - FC Bayern ahead of Champions League draw: "Achieve everything"

Harry Kane's home is the destination. FC Bayern are already looking towards London ahead of the draw for the Champions League round of 16 on Monday (12.00 noon) at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. The final of the premier class will take place there on June 1, 2024 at Wembley Stadium, where Kane has been on the hunt for goals for so many years. "With our team, we can achieve anything," said Munich captain Manuel Neuer after the victory over Manchester United at the end of the group stage.

Eleven years after their triumph in the German final against Borussia Dortmund, Bayern want to stand on the pitch at Wembley again and then hold the premier class trophy in their hands. "Of course, a lot always depends on your form on the day," said Neuer after the business trip to Manchester. "But if we play as resolutely as we did today and don't think it's going to happen on its own, then we can go far."

A duel with superstar Mbappé is possible

So who can Thomas Tuchel's Munich side face? There are six possible opponents in the first knockout round, including three from Italy. The German soccer champions could be drawn against Italian champions SSC Napoli, last year's finalists Inter Milan or Lazio Roma.

Another clash with Paris Saint-Germain is also possible. Bayern beat France's top team led by star striker Kylian Mbappé, who finished second in Group F behind Borussia Dortmund, in the round of 16 last season. Bayern's other potential opponents are FC Porto and PSV Eindhoven. Group opponents FC Copenhagen, RB Leipzig and Dortmund were also eliminated as Munich's opponents in the draw. A German duel would only be possible from the quarter-finals onwards.

The round of 16 will be played in the new year. The first legs will take place on February 13/14/20/21, the second legs on March 5/6/12/13. As top of the group, Bayern will first play away from home.
