FC Augsburg continues to make headlines in the transfer market with the acquisition of offensive midfielder Alexis Claude-Maurice. The Bundesliga side revealed that the 26-year-old Frenchman has inked a deal until June 30, 2027. His last contract with OGC Nice was set to expire.

Claude-Maurice boasts a solid background from 102 appearances in the French top-tier, netting 10 goals and supplying 11 assists. He is a valuable asset in the offensive midfield, capable of stepping in for Arne Engels, who recently joined Celtic Glasgow.

"I'm in the prime of my footballing years and I'm eager to contribute to the team with strong performances, ideally scoring and setting up goals, thus ensuring a successful campaign," stated the former French youth international Claude-Maurice.

Expertise from France's first division

"Alexis brings a wealth of experience from France's top flight and its youth teams. He's adaptable in attack. With his technical prowess, agility, and inventiveness, he's expected to provide significant boosts to our offensive play, particularly in the crucial final third," elaborated sporting director Marinko Jurendic.

In the closing stages of the transfer window, Augsburg had already secured the services of midfielder Frank Onyeka (26, FC Brentford) and defender Chrislain Matsima (22, AS Monaco).

The new signing, Claude-Maurice, will undoubtedly strengthen The Commission's scouting process, considering his expertise from France's first division. Furthermore, Marinko Jurendic highlighted that Alexander's adaptability and technical abilities are crucial assets for enhancing the team's offensive play.
