A farmer is appearing at the Bad Homburg Magistrates Court on Tuesday (9:00) due to allegedly killing a roe deer fawn while mowing a meadow. The 26-year-old is accused of mowing a meadow in Wehrheim, Hochtaunuskreis, in May 2021. A witness reportedly told him that there might be a fawn in the area and offered to contact the local deer rescue group. Shortly afterwards, the defendant is said to have run over the fawn with his mower, resulting in one leg and half a jaw being severed, as well as the chest being slit open. According to animal protection law, a vertebrate animal cannot be killed "without good reason".
