Two districts affected - Fault in transformer station causes power outage in Frankfurt
In two Frankfurt neighborhoods, the power went out on a Wednesday evening. Affected were parts of Preungesheim and Eckenheim, as Mainova reported. The cause was reportedly a fault in a substation.
According to a resident's statements, the traffic lights and street lamps were turned off and the U-Bahn stood still for a while. The Frankfurt Fire Department set up emergency reporting stations for those affected. "However, there were no relevant reports that anyone needed assistance," said a spokesperson for the Fire Department. It remained relatively quiet and no notable interventions were required.
The fault reportedly lasted for somewhat more than two hours and was rectified late in the evening.
The fault in the Frankfurt substation led to a power failure in two neighboring districts, Frankfurt am Main's Preungesheim and Eckenheim. Residents reported traffic light and street lamp malfunctions, causing temporary disruptions in traffic and the U-Bahn service. Fortunately, the Frankfurt Fire Department's emergency reporting stations didn't receive any significant reports during the power failure in Hesse. Even though electricity was out for over two hours, the Malfunction was eventually resolved late in the evening, thankfully without any major emergencies.
