Process - Fatal stabbing in shisha bar: verdict expected
In the trial for fatal stabbings in a Hamburg shisha bar, the verdict of the criminal chamber at the regional court is expected today (10.00 a.m.). The prosecution is accusing a 49-year-old man of manslaughter. The man, who was born in Montenegro, is said to have grabbed a knife during the fight in the early morning of March 26, 2023 and stabbed his opponent four times in the upper body. The 35-year-old died shortly afterwards in hospital despite resuscitation efforts.
Two days after the incident in the Hammerbrook district, the alleged perpetrator turned himself in. At the start of the trial on September 25, he denied the crime. He reported an argument at a family party in the bar, during which he himself had been injured and knocked unconscious. The public prosecutor is demanding 13 years in prison. The defense pleaded for a sentence of no more than seven years.
