Hamburg District Court - Fatal methadone drink: trial against accused begins
Three men are to stand trial for joint murder and robbery resulting in death at Hamburg District Court from Tuesday (1 p.m.). On the night of April 14 of this year, they are said to have secretly administered methadone to a 39-year-old man, killed him with it and then stole his valuables.
According to the indictment, the three men first drank alcohol and consumed cocaine together with the victim in the apartment of one of the accused. They then allegedly mixed methadone into the 39-year-old's drink. He died of an overdose. The defendants - a German, a Serb and a Syrian, according to earlier police reports - then allegedly stole his wristwatch and cash.
They are also accused of ordering goods in the 39-year-old's name and entering his home. There they are said to have stolen keys to his apartment and car, cell phones, business documents and technical equipment.
