According to media reports, the arrested owner is Austrian businessman Christian A.. He allegedly owns the company that operates the Medusa Beach Club on the popular beach promenade of Palma de Mallorca.

Two German tourists, a Senegalese, and a 23-year-old Spanish woman died on May 23rd due to the collapse of the recently renovated terrace on the first floor of the restaurant. Fourteen other people were injured in the accident.

A police investigation revealed that the terrace had been covered with a roof during the renovation, for which there was no permit. The structure reportedly collapsed due to the weight of the roof and the guests on the terrace.

The Balearic Islands, to which Mallorca belongs, are among Spain's most popular holiday destinations. According to official figures, the islands were visited by over 14 million foreign tourists last year.
