- Faster building permits: the country relies on technology
The implementation of the virtual building authority in Baden-Württemberg is progressing rapidly. Out of the 208 building rights authorities, 199 are now participating in the project, as Minister Nicole Razavi (CDU) informed the German Press Agency in Stuttgart. "60 are already in full operation - and almost daily, there are more."
Through the new platform, only a complete application can be submitted. This prevents time-consuming misunderstandings and makes the process easier for both sides. All parties involved can always see the current status. "If there is a request, it can be clarified much faster than before."
Razavi further stated that the procedures would also be accelerated because the documents would have to be submitted directly to the responsible building authorities and no longer to the municipalities. "The decision on a building application will then also be transmitted electronically." Building is currently not profitable for anyone because there are too many regulations and the procedures take too long. Therefore, the digital building application is so important.
According to Razavi, Baden-Württemberg is taking a pioneering role in this project. Out of the 87 building authorities nationwide that are already in full operation, 60 are from the southwest. This corresponds to a share of 69 percent. Around 2100 building applications have already been or are being processed entirely digitally in the state. The software for the virtual building authority was not developed by the state itself, but was taken over from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
To submit a complete application on the platform, a building permit is required. The virtual building authority's digital system will transmit the decision on the building application electronically.
