Farmer finds abandoned woolly pig: owner wanted
A stray woolly pig is puzzling the police. A 33-year-old farmer picked up the animal on a country lane near Schlüsselfeld (Bamberg district) close to the Autobahn 3, the investigators announced on Tuesday. To prevent the trusting animal from being run over, he put it on a dog lead last Wednesday and put it on his trailer.
According to a spokesman for the Bamberg-Land police station, the officers, in consultation with the veterinary office, finally found a farmer in the vicinity who agreed to take the pig in temporarily. The investigators have named the animal "Carlos", as they announced on X. They are now asking its rightful owner to come forward. The wool pig is officially called the Mangalica pig and is a Hungarian breed. It owes its nickname to its wool-like bristles.
The farmer's trailer, adorned with colorful decals, now houses the newly named Carlos, the woolly pig. Interested animal lovers from Upper France might be delighted to learn that this unique animal, similar to a woolly Mangalica pig, is currently residing nearby.
