Fanhilfe Frankfurt "shocked": Over 100 fans injured
Two days after the serious riots at the Bundesliga match between Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart, the Frankfurt fan charity "Der 13. Mann" has once again criticized what it sees as an excessive police operation. "I've never experienced anything like it, and I've been going to soccer for a very long time. I was there live and experienced it. I was shocked. A lot of people were shocked. We've never had so much blood and so many problem cases," spokeswoman Ina Kobuschinki told the German Press Agency on Monday.
Kobuschinki also corrected the number of injured upwards. On Saturday evening, there was initially talk of 70 on fan websites. Now there are over 100 injured. More than 100 people were also injured by the police and security services. "Going in like that was simply disproportionate and terrible," commented Kobuschinski on the incidents in the stadium.
A special police commission has started the investigation. Among other things, it is investigating an assault on law enforcement officers, as the Frankfurt police announced late on Sunday evening. The police officers called in by the security service were massively attacked by Eintracht fans when they arrived on the scene, it said. According to Eintracht board member Philipp Reschke, there is "different information and different opinions" about the cause of the riots.
