Colorful - Fan spends the night in Schalke arena during European Championship? UEFA denies

The TikTok video of a supposed overnight stay of a fan in Schalke Football Arena, according to UEFA, was not filmed after the EM game between England and Serbia. "It is obvious that this video was not taken during the tournament or even in the last few weeks, as there is no signage, branding or UEFA Euro 2024 protocol elements in the stadium," the European Football Union stated in response to an inquiry from the German Press Agency on Tuesday.

Furthermore, there are no visible line markings on the field that would be visible if the video was actually taken in the hours after the game.

The video was made public on Monday evening. Numerous media reported on it. In the video, the man who claims to have spent the night there says, "I've just woken up. It's four in the morning. I'm shaking." Then he makes a camera pan through the empty arena, but the lights are on.

The video was posted on the account "away day lads" the next day. "England fan who woke up at 4 am in the stadium today," it was captioned. It is unclear who the creator of the video is.

Video on Tiktok

  1. Despite claims in a TikTok video, the supposed overnight stay of a fan in Schalke Football Arena did not occur after the EM game between England and Serbia, according to UEFA.
  2. The video, posted on the account "away day lads", was taken in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, but lacked any signage, branding, or UEFA Euro 2024 protocol elements that would suggest it was filmed during the tournament or recent weeks.
  3. The video, initially published on Monday evening and widely reported by media, showed the empty stadium with the lights on, contradicting the assertion that it was filmed in the hours following a soccer match.
  4. The creator of the video remains unknown, but the TikTok clip was captioned "England fan who woke up at 4 am in the stadium today."
  5. Despite a controversial video showing an England fan allegedly spending the night in the Schalke Football Arena, the event did not actually take place in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, or during any UEFA tournament, including UEFA Euro 2024.
