Second division - Fan of Hansa-Rostock club faces charges following unrest in Paderborn.
On December 15, 2023, during a second division soccer match, a guy allegedly scaled a fence from the visitors' side and moved into the near-by home area. Apparently, he sneaked up to a rival fan standing on the upper step, watching the game. He reportedly shoved this fan so hard in the back that he tumbled headfirst over the seats in front of him, ending up unconscious a few steps down. Remarkably, the injured fan only suffered a bleeding wound, as stated. Initially, no court hearing has been scheduled for this incident at Paderborn District Court.
In the heated game where Rostock lost 0:3, football fans caused significant commotion. Police reports indicate that 38 people got injured, including several officers and security personnel. The rioters set off fireworks, hurled objects at the police, damaged restrooms, food and drink stands.
Violent outbursts by the spectators of this Baltic Sea-based club have landed them in the headlines before. Only a week prior, at the season finale and the relegation match, they once again made disturbing news. The football club has revealed plans to investigate the previous situations.
