- "Family is Niche" unveils at the German Film Festival
The 20th anniversary of Ludwigshafen's German Film Festival starts with the screening of "Family isn't" on Wednesday. Anticipated attendees include director Nana Neul, lead actress Meret Becker, and Rhineland-Palatinate Minister President Alexander Schweitzer (SPD).
The festival continues until September 8th, serving as a creative think tank and networking spot for the industry. This special year, a total of 64 films will be shown. Ludwigshafen is known as the second most visited film festival in Germany after Berlin, attracting approximately 108,000 film enthusiasts to the Park Island near the Baden-Württemberg border last year.
The open-air cinema and cinema tents with over a thousand seats play host to the festival. Throughout the 19-day event, various guests will be celebrated. Acting awards will be presented to Liv Lisa Fries ("Babylon Berlin"), Christoph Maria Herbst ("Contra"), and Joachim Król ("Price of Freedom"). Eleven films are in the running for the Film Art Prize and the "Rheingold" audience award.
